A Peterborough man and his pet macaw had a Canada Day to remember.
The two were visiting Beavermead Park when the bird was “startled” and flew high into a tree in the park.
Hours of coaxing the bird to return to its owner did not work.
The man then decided to climb up the tree – 30 to 40 feet high – to retrieve the bird. He was successfully, however, could not climb back down safely.
Peterborough Fire Services were called and were able to rescue the duo.
