A raucous crowd of more than 1,500 crammed into a Calgary convention centre Friday night to hear Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Jason Kenney, leader of Alberta's Opposition United Conservative Party, rail against the federal carbon tax.

Doug Ford and Scott Moe said Manitoba's decision to scrap its own plan to put a price on carbon shows that opposition against the federal tax is gaining momentum.

Ford said Ontario and Saskatchewan are going to stand up to what he called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's tax and spend policies.
