BC Hydro says it is inspecting homes in the Sumas Prairie and must cut power to any that pose a safety hazard. The Sansalone family says they were never notified about the issue.

"The cause of the outage was a downed tree adjacent to our service territory," an Epcor spokesperson said in an email.
