City administration is recommending playground zone hours in Edmonton stay the way they are, despite concerns from residents about their effectiveness and what one councillor is calling a lack of data.

Regina city council voted in favour of reducing the school and playground zone speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h beginning Sept 1.

City council took a second look at the playground zone rules Tuesday and decided to get rid of 41 across Edmonton.

Thanks to the vague definition of what constitutes a playground, more than two dozen spots across the city could return to the previous speed limit.

It's one month into the installation of 30 km/h speed zones around junior high schools and the word from Edmonton's Office of Traffic Safety is: so far so good.
