Earlier in May, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes called for the breakup of the world’s largest social media network.

France wants to take a leading role in regulating online hate speech, particularly on social media platforms such as Facebook.

"Mark [Zuckerberg] is a good, kind person. But I'm angry that his focus on growth led him to sacrifice security and civility for clicks," Chris Hughes said in a New York Times opinion piece.
