Girl in stable condition after stabbing in Cross Lake, Man., Mounties investigate

A 15-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after being stabbed behind an elementary school in Cross Lake, Man.

Around 3 a.m. Thursday morning Cross Lake RCMP say they were flagged down by a pedestrian who said they saw an assault taking place near the school.

Officers went to the scene and found a 17-year-old boy assaulting the victim, a press release states.

Mounties arrested the suspect and a search of him yielded a knife.

The girl was rushed to the nursing station with multiple stab wounds and later taken to Winnipeg for treatment, where she remains in stable condition.

The boy was released with an upcoming court date. The investigation continues.
