A 9-year-old girl is dead after she was hit by a white Ford delivery van in Vaughan, police say.
York Regional Police said the fatal collision happened on Mullen Drive, which is a residential street north of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday.
The girl was taken to hospital without vital signs, police said. She succumbed to her injuries after the crash and the 22-year-old driver remained at the scene, investigators said.

Police initially said the girl was 10 years old but in an update on Thursday morning police confirmed to Global News the girl is actually 9 years old.
No charges have been laid as of early Thursday afternoon.
York police’s Major Collision Unit is investigating.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” Const. Maniva Armstrong said.
She said investigators have spoken with the driver of the van.
“I can say that they have spoken to many witnesses,” she added.
“They have been out canvasing the area for video surveillance and they continue to appeal to the public.”
Anyone with information or video footage of the collision or the van was asked to contact police.
