Operation Nez rouge kicks-off for the holiday season

The service will be working from November 29th to December 31st except for the evenings of the first to the 4th, and from 8th to 10th December when Operation Nez rouge de Montreal will be closed. File / Global News

MONTREAL –  The 30th annual drive-home service Operation Nez rouge starts its engines Friday.

Throughout the holiday season volunteers in red vests will provide a safe ride home for party-goers who don’t feel fit to drive.

The service aims to prevent drunk-driving and began as small operation in Quebec City  in 1984.

It has expanded to 63 cities across the province and is available in 43 locations in Canada.

The service is free and runs till New Years Eve.

Montrealers who need a ride can simply call 514-256-2510 or  1-866-DESJARDINS from anywhere in Quebec.
