WINNIPEG — Shoppers patiently waited as stores opened at Polo Park mall for a very Canadian Black Friday.

While shoppers slowly filled the halls, traffic was similar to a regular Saturday at the mall and people waited politely to get a good deal.

Winnipeg shoppers gave mixed reviews about this year’s Black Friday event.  Some said sales are better than Boxing Day while others said it’s nothing like sales in the States.

Only a few dozen people waited outside Polo Park before stores officially opened at 7 a.m., but crowds started to pick up outside Victoria Secret and the Apple store.

“Everyone is shopping like crazy,” said Deborah Green, general manager at Polo Park mall. “There’s people actually running.”

Stores at Kildonan Place also opened at 7 a.m., with the malls opening their doors at 6 a.m., and St. Vital Shopping Centre stores opened at 8 a.m., and mall doors open at 7:30 a.m.
