Man dead, woman injured after shooting in Toronto

Toronto police say a man has died and a woman has serious injuries after a shooting on Thursday night.

Police said the incident occurred just after 7:30 p.m., on Thursday in the Northcliffe Boulevard and St. Clair Avenue West area. It was reported that multiple shots were fired.

Two victims were located with gunshot wounds, officers said.

Toronto paramedics told Global News a man was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Paramedics also said they transported a woman with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said one of the victims was shot in the abdomen and the other was shot in the leg.

According to police, a firearm was located, however, the suspect fled on foot.

Toronto police Insp. Maher Abdel-Malik told reporters on Thursday night that there was “no established relationship” between the suspect and the victims. He also said no motive has been determined at this time.

The suspect is still outstanding. A suspect description was not immediately available.
