REGINA – As the 101st Grey Cup is inching closer, Roughrider fans are taking part in a number of customary football festivities – one of which is the 50/50 draw, put on by the Regina Rams.
Those lottery tickets typically aren’t a hard sell – fans can support the green, and maybe win some too.
“If you can go home with $30,000 to $40,000 after a game, why wouldn’t you?” said one ticket-buyer.
And at this weekend’s game, it could be much more than that.

“On Labour Day, the winner took home $94,000. So the crowd will be even more enthusiastic with the Roughriders in the Grey Cup, so there’s a good chance it could be a $200,000 prize for the winner,” said Lorraine Rankin, Marketing Coordinator for the Regina Rams.
But money isn’t the only motivation – half the jackpot goes towards developing young athletic talent in Saskatchewan.
“You get to contribute and you get to win. You’re giving back to the U of R rams which is a great program, and you’re also going to potentially win a whole bunch of money, so I like that idea for sure,” said another ticket-buyer.
What’s become a hallmark of every Roughrider home game, is also uniquely Canadian.
“It says that Canadians are kind and generous and they like to contribute to a great cause, and hopefully win something in the end of it all,” said Rankin.
The winning prize will be drawn at the beginning of the fourth quarter this Grey Cup Sunday.
