CALGARY – Mayor Naheed Nenshi has placed second on a list of the 50 most important people in Canada, right behind Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Maclean’s magazine published the list in their most recent issue, and says those on it are distinguished individuals who have the capacity to inspire Canadians and change the way we think and live.

The weekly current affairs magazine ranked Nenshi higher than big names like Stephen Harper’s Chief of Staff Ray Novak, Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau, Blackberry co-founder Mike Lazaridis and Executive Chairman of Loblaws Galen Weston Jr.

Maclean’s said the list was compiled by analyzing institutional clout, capacity for innovation and timeliness.
