Montreal woman convicted of stalking Alec Baldwin

TORONTO — The Montreal woman accused of stalking actor Alec Baldwin has been found guilty on all counts.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum convicted Genevieve Sabourin on Thursday and sentenced her to 210 days in jail.

Sabourin, 41, cried as she was found guilty of aggravated harassment, stalking, criminal contempt and other counts. She insisted she had done nothing wrong and told the judge: “You’re doing a mistake right now.”

Sabourin met Baldwin in 2000 during the filming of the made-in-Montreal sci-fi comedy The Adventures of Pluto Nash, in which he had a cameo and she was a publicist.

They had dinner together in New York in 2010 and then, according to Baldwin, Sabourin launched a campaign of harassment that included calls and emails and uninvited visits to his home.

“It was nightmarish,” Baldwin, 55, testified Tuesday, comparing the situation to an Alfred Hitchcock movie.

Mandelbaum chastised the Quebec native for “conduct you knew to be unwanted or unwelcome.”

Sabourin was found in contempt on Wednesday after repeated outbursts in the courtroom and sentenced to 30 days in jail.
