3 teens charged with robbery after parking lot mugging

HALIFAX – Three teens have been charged with robbery following a mugging Wednesday night near the Halifax Shopping Centre.

At 8:22 p.m., the victim was walking through the parkade north of the mall when he was approached by the group. One of the three had a knife and demanded the victim’s cell phone and electronics. The victim was not hurt and the suspects got away.

Soon after, Halifax Regional Police found three teens walking on Bayers Road who matched the descriptions provided by the victim. They were taken into custody and charged with possession of property, possession of weapons and wearing a disguise with intent. The 18- and 19-year-olds will be in Halifax Provincial court Thursday morning. The other teen, a young offender, will appear in Youth Court.
