WATCH: Errant punch downs Vernon linesman

Vernon – It was a solid punch in a consensual fight but it landed on the wrong guy.

An incident in a Vernon Vipers hockey game has caught the attention of  league officials.

Fisticuffs broke out in Sunday’s game when the Vipers were playing host to the Prince George Spruce Kings. 

As a linesman tried to separate two combatants, a Vernon player throws a blind punch, missing his opponent and hitting the linesman.

He went down, bleeding from the face.  

A spokesperson for the BC Junior Hockey League says after reviewing video of the incident, no disciplinary action will be taken against the player who threw the wayward punch.  

He calls it an unfortunate accident with no intent by the player to hit the linesman.
