Man dead after shooting in Hamilton: police

A 53-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Hamilton, police say.

Hamilton police said the incident occurred at a residence in the Sanford Avenue North and Acorn Street Area at around 4 p.m. on Friday.

Officers said a 53-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds.

“The Homicide Unit has been investigating and can confirm that the deceased male has been identified as Robert Barberstock,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

“Police believe this was a targeted attack and are currently looking for three to four male suspects who were seen fleeing from the scene.”

No suspect information has been released by investigators as of Sunday morning.

The homicide unit is investigating and has not yet revealed any connections to a shooting death just minutes after some seven kilometres away at the Red Rose Motel located on Queenston Road near Redwood Court.
