B.C. artist honouring the Canadian Forces with some unique drawings

Michael Markowsky is no stranger to quirky projects. He did paint landscapes while strapped to the roof of a speeding car after all.

However, this time he is taking on what could be his most ambitions project.

As part of the War Artist program, Markowsky made 100 drawings while flying in a RCAF CF-18 fighter jet. He plans on making a film and building a giant sculpture with his work.

Markowsky wants to show the exciting and unique side of the forces, while raising money to assist Canadian Veterans and their families.

“It was without a doubt, the single most incredible experience of my life,” says Markowsky.

“But I think the most satisfying moment was actually after the flight. I showed the drawings I made to the pilot and they were genuinely impressed. Honestly, that was a big relief because I had nightmares that I would disappoint them. It was important to me to capture their experience accurately, so that I could share it with the rest of Canada,” he says.
