2 charged with attempted murder after shooting in Moncton: RCMP

New Brunswick RCMP say two people were charged with attempted murder after a shooting was reported in Moncton on Thursday night.

Sgt. Mathieu Roy of Codiac RCMP told Global News the shooting on Lutz Street was reported to police just after 9 p.m. Thursday.

Roy said officers found one man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

According to Roy, the man was in “stable condition.”

Roy said two people were arrested “minutes after” police arrived, and are in custody.

In a Friday afternoon release, RCMP said 36-year-old Justin LeClair and 38-year-old Crystal Cormier appeared in court and were charged with attempted murder.

Both are set to return to court on Feb. 27.

Roy said police believe this was “a targeted incident with no danger to the public.”
