Student released from custody after gun reportedly seen at Toronto high school: police

A student has been released from custody after a gun was reportedly seen at a high school in Toronto, police say.

Toronto police said at around 12:26 p.m., on Thursday, officers received a report that a gun had been seen inside Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute.

The school was temporarily placed into lockdown.

According to Kranenburg, some students went to Valley Park Middle School, and as a result, the school was placed into a hold and secure.

“The hold and secure and the lockdown have been lifted at both schools and the investigation is continuing,” Kranenburg said.

Kranenburg said no charges have been laid yet, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

In an update Friday morning, police said the student initially in custody was released.
