REGINA – Carnduff RCMP and Saskatchewan’s Prairie Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) have charged a 46-year-old Montreal man with Conspiracy To Commit An Indictable Offence.
Jose Maria Gonzales-Vasquez is alleged to have organized and helped smuggle five adults and three children from Quebec into North Dakota from the Saskatchewan/U.S. border.
The border patrol apprehended the 8 people right after they entered the U.S. on April 5, 2013, and after a lengthy investigation discovered a smuggler-for-hire operation out of Montreal.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Gonzales-Vasquez and the eight smuggled people have been dealt with according to U.S. law.
