Gallegos is accused of stealing the money when he worked in the accounting department at the First Nation south of Saskatoon.

Financial irregularities were uncovered by external auditors and accountants determined it was theft.

RCMP were alerted on Sept. 6 but were unable to find Gallegos and believed he had fled to his native El Salvador.

Gallegos is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning.
