Massage parlor shut down over prostitution allegations

CALGARY – A massage parlor in the community of Dover has been shut down over prostitution concerns.

The business, located in the 3100 block of 34 Avenue S.E., was shut down on Monday after an investigation by Calgary police and the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit (SCAN).

Police say Paradise Spa has been a problem property for more than 10 years, and was operating 100 feet away from a daycare.

The business has been placed under a Community Safety Order (CSO).

“This is the first CSO granted in Alberta and likely Canada addressing the ongoing problem of businesses registered as massage parlors performing acts of prostitution,” says SCAN Investigator Glenn Stuart.
