TORONTO – Magician Criss Angel is shutting down his Las Vegas show for three months so he can go under the knife.

The 45-year-old, whose real name is Christopher Satantakos, announced Saturday he is cancelling performances of Believe at the Luxor from January to March 2014.

Angel is scheduled to undergo surgery in January to repair torn tendons in his shoulder.

Angel has performed more than 2,100 of the 4,600 scheduled shows since Believe debuted on Halloween night in 2008.

The show was co-written and directed by Quebec native Serge Denoncourt.
