46-year-old man identified after fatal stabbing in Toronto’s Allan Gardens

Toronto police say a man in his 40s has died after he was stabbed in downtown Toronto on Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to Jarvis Street and Carlton Street at around 10:38 p.m. for reports of a stabbing in Allan Gardens.

Police said a group of people were hanging out at the park when another man walked up to the group and stabbed the victim.

When officers arrived, they provided first aid on the man and police said that the injuries were serious.

In a later update, police said the man died from his injuries in hospital.

Investigators have identified him as 46-year-old Kassa Tesfaye of Toronto.

A close friend of the victim, however, said his name was Tesfaye Kassa.

The friend said his loved ones are in shock and can’t make sense of the incident.

He also went by the nickname “Tarzan” and is being remembered as a humble and caring man who was always helping others.

Friends said he was an aviation engineer and leaves behind a teen daughter.

Meanwhile, police said they are looking for a suspect described as a man in his 20s, about five foot eight, who fled towards Jarvis Street.

“There is no information on the suspect nor motive at this time,” police said.
