Blue Rodeo started recording In Our Nature – the group’s 13th studio album – at guitarist/vocalist Greg Keelor’s farm in the fall of 2012.

The new songs were road-tested during the band’s 25th anniversary tour before the veteran musicians returned to the farm in the spring of 2013 to finish the recording.

“Originally, we thought we’d come out here and do what we did on 1993’s Five Days in July – empty out the furniture from the living room and play in the round – but it turned out that the music had a bigger scope than that,” explained guitarist/vocalist Jim Cuddy.

“So we positioned ourselves around the various rooms and started working.  It was apparent right away that there were some very strong ties that were knitting everything together and that it was going to be a good vibe record.”

Joining Cuddy, Keelor, bassist Bazil Donovan, drummer Glenn Milchem and multi-instrumentalist Bob Egan are keyboardist Michael Boguski and guitarist Colin Cripps.

In Our Nature opens with the first single, “New Morning Sun,” and includes 13 additional tracks. The album cover was created by St. John’s, Newfoundland-based artist Jud Haynes.

The album is available for pre-order now on iTunes or at the official Blue Rodeo website.

Blue Rodeo kicks off a cross-Canada tour Jan. 2 at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver. Click here for all the tour information.
