Halifax police investigate after two pedestrians struck by vehicles

HALIFAX – Halifax police say two pedestrians were injured Thursday after being hit by vehicles in separate incidents.

The first incident happened during the busy morning commute when a 67-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while walking on a ramp leading to the McDonald Bridge.

Police say she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old man, was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.

Shortly before 3 p.m., police say an 86-year-old woman was hit by a car in the parking lot of a grocery store in Dartmouth.

Police say the woman sustained serious leg injuries, and the collision remains under investigation.
