Brampton high school lockdown lifted, police still searching for male after weapons call

Police say a lockdown at a high school has been lifted after officers received reports of a person with a weapon in Brampton.

In a tweet, Peel Regional Police said officers received reports of a male shooting at a wall in the Elbern Markell Drive and Boviard Drive area just before 12 p.m.

Police said it is not known whether the weapon is real.

According to police, officers are “checking the area.”

Police said no injuries have been reported.

Officers said Jean Augustine Secondary School had been paced under a lockdown “as a precaution.”

However, in an update at 1:48 p.m., officers said the lockdown had been lifted.

“No evidence of a weapon being fired in the area,” police said in a tweet.

Police said officers were “still attempting to locate” the male.
