GO train lines reopen for evening commute after morning derailment

TORONTO – The Kitchener GO train line has reopened ahead of the evening rush hour after a freight train derailment in Brampton caused significant delays on at least three GO Transit trains early Monday morning.

Crews were on scene near the Bramalea GO Station at Steeles Avenue and Advance Boulevard for the clean up after four empty tankers jumped off the tracks before 7 a.m. A CN Rail employee suffered minor injuries in the incident.

GO Transit advised its customers at approximately 3:30 p.m that the affected tracks would be reopened prior to the evening commute.

Steeles Avenue was closed near Dixie Road as a precaution but has since reopened.
