A man has been sent to hospital in critical condition after being hit by a garbage truck the city’s West End.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the man was hit while riding his bicycle on Erin Street at Sargent Avenue around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was found seriously injured, police say. He was was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he remains.

Police say their early investigation shows he was hit by a garbage truck at the intersection, which subsequently drove away.
Police were still at the scene on Wednesday morning and southbound Erin Street was closed at Sargent Avenue.
Investigators from the traffic division are asking for the public’s helping tracking down the garbage truck and driver.
