CALGARY- They’ve done it again.
Some sneaky gorillas at the Calgary Zoo have once again managed to escape their enclosure, and access a secondary containment area in the TransAlta Rainforest building.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon, and fortunately no staff members or gorillas were injured.
“This isn’t related to any previous incident whatsoever, it’s an isolated incident,” says spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder. “Right now were just being very transparent with everyone when there’s things like this that do happen on site. We like to be able to tell everyone what we know, and it’s not a lot because were still in the process of reviewing to make sure we do have all the facts in play.”

The escape comes just months after a zookeeper was injured, then fired, after a similar incident back in March. A door was improperly locked, and the animals made their way into the kitchen area before a staff member came face-to-face with them, being injured in the process.
An investigation is now underway.
