One person dead in northwest Calgary crash

One person was killed in a crash in northwest Calgary on Wednesday night.

Calgary police said a pick-up truck rolled along the 10200 block of Tuscany Boulevard N.W. around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The driver, a man in his mid-20s, was travelling east and failed to navigate a righthand curve in the roadway. The truck spun, struck a boulder, tipped over, crossed the opposing lanes and rolled. It came to a stop after striking a light pole.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The front-seat passenger, a woman in her mid-20s, was pulled from the vehicle by the Calgary Fire Department and transported to the hospital by EMS with serious injuries.

Speed and alcohol are being investigated as contributing factors in this collision, police said.

Roads in the area were closed during the investigation but have since reopened.
