A woman was injured and bear sprayed in a Tuesday night robbery in Kelowna.
Police said a woman was sitting in her vehicle in a parking lot at 5:15 p.m. in the 2800 block of Highway 97 when a male suspect opened the passenger door, threatened her with a knife and demanded her belongings.
A struggle ensued and the woman was injured, RCMP said in a press release.
“Before fleeing on foot, the suspect sprayed a sensory irritant, otherwise known as bear spray, inside the vehicle. The victim sought assistance from a nearby business until police and EHS arrived on scene,” RCMP said.
“Frontline officers with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services searched the area but the suspect was not located.”
The victim was transported to the hospital by paramedics and treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being released.
The suspect is described as a man five feet 11 inches tall wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black medical-style mask.
