Police probe smash and grab at Canyon Meadows liquor store

CALGARY – Police are investigating yet another attempted smash and grab robbery in the city.

The latest incident happened at a liquor store in the 1200 block of Canyon Meadows Drive S.E.

A private security company responded to an alarm at the Liquor Depot in Canyon Meadows around 4 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the back loading door crushed and extensive damage to the back of the store.

Police say a truck crashed into the loading dock to gain access to the store.

A number of liquor bottles were smashed but investigators say nothing appears to be missing.

Managers at the store say it isn’t the first time this has happened, but wouldn’t comment further.

It’s an all too familiar story for police, who are now investigating seven attempted smash and grab robberies within two weeks.

Police can’t say yet if any of those incidents are related.

So far, police say there are no witnesses for this latest incident, and no description of the vehicle that hit the building.
