SASKATOON – There is a big change coming to Lotto 6/49.

Starting with the Wednesday, Sept. 18 draw, there is a new guaranteed $1 million prize for each draw.

“Unlike the main jackpot draw, the guaranteed prize draw will be made from entered numbers only – so a winner is guaranteed every time,” said Andrea Marantz, a spokesperson with Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

“That means two $1 million prizes will be won every single week – 104 new millionaires each year from the guaranteed prize draw alone.”

The minimum jackpot prize is also increasing. It will now start at $5 million instead of the current $3 million.

Another change is a new free play prize category for matching just two of the six numbers drawn.
