Laval police investigate report of possible attack on reputed mob boss

LAVAL – For the last six weeks, investigators within the Laval police force have been trying to figure out possible motives for the recent firebombing of a golf course clubhouse.

A new report out today suggests it may have something to do with reputed mob boss Vito Rizzuto.

On July 22, the clubhouse at the Cardinal Golf Club was destroyed by vandals and according to the TVA network, the 67-year-old Rizzuto was inside the building the night of the fire.

“Yes, he has been seen at the golf course, playing golf three or four times in the past few months,” confirmed Laval police spokesperson Franco Di Genova.

“But that’s about it. Is there a connection? We don’t think so.”

The TVA report stated Rizzuto regularly met “about five or six friends” in the clubhouse.

The owner of the golf club told Global News that the report is simply not true.

“It’s the first time I’ve heard that,” said club owner Guy Cardinal.

“They play golf and he plays like everybody else.”

Laval police said that the investigation is ongoing.

Vito Rizzuto and his wife recently moved into a new home in Laval in the nearby Ste-Dorothee district and borders another golf course, the Islesmere Golf Club.
