Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a pedestrian died in a collision near Hamilton’s west end on Monday afternoon.
Highway 403 eastbound at Aberdeen Avenue was closed just after 3:30 p.m. to allow emergency crews access to the scene.
In a social media post, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said access to the highway eastbound from Main Street East was also affected by closures.
“The pedestrian was struck by a commercial dump truck that’s just up the road here,” Schmidt said in his post.
OPP later confirmed the person was hit near the Aberdeen eastbound exit and that the investigation was ongoing as of Tuesday morning.
The 403’s eastbound lanes were closed for several hours and finally re-opened just before 9:00 p.m.
