One dead in Surrey shooting Tuesday night

Homicide investigators are looking into another shooting that follows a sadly familiar pattern; a victim gunned down in a residential neighbourhood, and a torched vehicle nearby. Andrea MacPherson reports – Oct 6, 2021

One person was shot and killed near 80 Avenue and 122a Street in Surrey on Tuesday night.

Surrey RCMP was called to the area just before 10 p.m. after a report of shots fired.

They found an adult with gunshot wounds and pronounced them dead on the scene, police said.

Traffic will be affected for an unknown amount of time with 122 A Street shut down for both north and south bound traffic between 80 Avenue and 78 Avenue, RCMP said Tuesday night.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in to work with the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Unit.

No word yet on whether this shooting is believed to be connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

IHIT is expected to provide more details on Wednesday.
