Toronto police say a deceased body was found in the city’s east end, near the Toronto Zoo.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Old Finch Avenue and Reesor Road at around 12:12 a.m. Monday.
Toronto fire officials said they received a call for a grass fire in the area.
Officers were then called in for a report of “something suspicious.”
In a statement issued by police Monday evening, the man is described as five-foot-eight to five-foot-10 with an average build. He is between 25 to 35 years old. He has a light brown complexion, short dark hair and short facial hair. He was wearing a plain gold band on his left ring finger and was wearing a pair of Air Jordan shoes with red soles.
Homicide investigators have taken over the investigation and police said at this time the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Tuesday.
