Video: More tornadoes confirmed in Ontario

TORONTO – It’s been an above-average tornado season in Ontario this summer.

Environment Canada confirmed Thursday that the 18th and 19th tornadoes occurred in a field about 20 km north of Guelph on Sept. 1 around 6 p.m.

Warning: Strong language which might offend some viewers.

The tornado is being confirmed as a low-end EF0 tornado with maximum winds of 110 km/h.

A second tornado that occurred around 6:30 p.m. was also confirmed. Again, it was a weak EF0 tornado.

Environment Canada received the reports and analyzed the accompanying video evidence, which was provided to them by a trained CANWARN storm spotter.

An average of 12 tornadoes are confirmed in Ontario each year. Though this has been an above-average tornado season, most of the tornadoes have been weak and short-lived.
