Winnipeg police have arrested a 23-year-old man after an assault at The Forks Thursday night that police say was not random.

Officers were called to the area of Forks Market Road and Fort Gibraltar Trail around 6:40 p.m., after a report of a stabbing.

Police arrived to find an injured man in his 20’s and he was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

The suspect was spotted soon after on Israel Asper Way and was arrested.

Police say the suspect and victim knew each other and had been involved in an argument before the stabbing

23-year-old Mason Desjarlais from Winnipeg is being charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
