Hamilton police say a driver is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Stoney Creek on Wednesday afternoon.
Crash investigators believe a Chevy Equinox SUV travelling northbound on Centennial Parkway struck the rear of a Kia Sonata sedan stopped at intersection traffic lights near King Street East around 5:30 p.m.
The force of the collision pushed the Kia into the rear of another vehicle, a Jeep Patriot.
The two occupants of the Equinox were transported to a trauma centre where the 43-year-old driver subsequently died of his injuries.
A woman in her 40s was also taken to a trauma centre with serious but stable injuries, according to paramedics.
Two others in the Kia, a 24-year-old woman and a young girl, were also sent to hospital in stable condition.
Occupants in the Jeep were uninjured, according to police.
The incident closed King Street East at Centennial for hours before reopening just after midnight.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
