Patrick O’Hara is the projected winner in the Châteauguay—Lacolle riding.
The Châteauguay—Lacolle riding covers the south of Montreal, all the way to the Canada-U.S. border. Contrary to the name, the riding does not include the municipality of Lacolle.
Châteauguay—LacolleLacolle was formed in 2013 from the ridings of Châteauguay—Saint-Constant and Beauharnois—Salaberry. These ridings have seen a string of different parties take the seat over the years.
Incumbent Liberal Brenda Shanahan was re-elected in Châteauguay—Lacolle during the 2019 federal election, narrowly beating out the Bloc Québécois’ Claudia Valdivia by 1.2 per cent.
The ridings that were part of Châteauguay—Lacolle had a Bloc Québécois member from 2004 until 2011, when the NDP won a number of seats in Quebec. The seat was then swept up in the Liberal wave in 2015.
