The Green Party’s Jenica Atwin won the seat in the 2019 election with 33.7 per cent of the vote in a historic campaign. Atwin’s win made her the first female MP in Fredericton’s history, and the only Green MP in Atlantic Canada.

Prior to Atwin’s win, the riding had gone between Liberal and Conservative leadership.

In June 2021, Atwin crossed the floor to the Liberal Party, after reports of disagreements within the Greens, particularly on the recent conflict in the Middle East.

Public administration is the most common type of labour in the riding.
