Incumbent Andy Fillmore is projected to be re-elected in the riding of Sydney-Victoria.
The riding of Halifax contains all of the Halifax Peninsula, and includes communities south to the Atlantic Ocean. Halifax is one of a select few ridings in Canada that has participated in elections since Confederation in 1867.
In the 2019 election, Liberal incumbent Andy Fillmore was able to recapture his seat, beating out NDP candidate Christine Saulnier by 6,934 votes.
Jo-Ann Roberts, then-deputy leader of the Green Party, attempted to challenge Fillmore while the NDP sought to recapture the stronghold they had in the 2000s.
Fillmore previously served as the parliamentary secretary to the minister of Canadian heritage and multiculturalism and is a graduate of Dalhousie and Harvard.
Following his win in 2019, Fillmore was appointed parliamentary secretary to Canada’s minister of infrastructure and communities.
The Liberals were able to recapture 10 seats in the 2019 federal election, while losing one to the Conservatives in West Nova.
