String of break-ins has police warning residents of west Edmonton neighbourhood

EDMONTON – Residents of a neighbourhood in Edmonton’s west end are being told to be on the look-out for suspicious activity after three break and enters in the last five days.

The first one happened in the Lymburn area on Friday, and the latest one on Tuesday.

In each case, police say the suspect entered homes through a screen or patio window in the early morning hours. There was always at least one adult home at the time.

The homes targeted are within blocks of each other. Police do not believe that the suspect and victims are known to each other, but are still investigating to determine if the break-ins are linked in some other way.

The suspect is described a darker-skinned male who is between 5’8″ and 6′ feet tall with an average to muscular build. He is believed to between 20-30 years-old with dark, possibly spiked hair. The suspect was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Police want to remind people of the importance of reporting crimes as soon as they happen, as it increases the chances that police will be able to catch the suspect.
