Man found stabbed in downtown Calgary dies in hospital: police

Calgary police say a man who was stabbed during an altercation in the downtown core on Thursday evening has died.

According to police, the incident happened near the Kerby Centre on 7 Avenue Southwest, by the CTrain tracks on the west side of 11 Street Southwest.

EMS took the victim, a man in his 40s, to hospital but he didn’t survive.

The suspect left the scene on foot, police said.

Following an autopsy done Friday, police identified the victim as 49-year-old Russell David Younker.

“Detectives are now hoping to speak with two people who may have information that would be valuable to the investigation,” police said.
