Family pleads for info after mother’s remains found near Calgary

CALGARY – The family of a woman whose remains were found southeast of the city earlier this year, is making an emotional plea for more information.

Maria Ciciolla’s remains were discovered in a field near Indus in late May, seven years after she went missing.

Despite re-interviewing persons of interest, police say they still don’t have answers in the 35-year-old woman’s death.

Her family, who lives in Montreal, is desperate for answers and say they believe Maria was murdered.

“What bothered me more, was how she went. Which is why I’m more mad than sad, because the person who did it is obviously a coward,” says Pietro Ciciolla, Maria’s son. “If he had a heart, he would tell us what happened.”

So far, police have not released Maria’s cause of death.

When Ciciolla, who is originally from Montreal, went missing in July of 2006 police feared she had met with foul play.

Her family hope someone will come forward with more information on Maria.

“If they don’t get caught or be brought to justice… I think God will take care of them, when their time comes,” adds Leonardo Ciciolla, Maria’s brother.

She was last seen at 19 Ave. and 44 St. S.E., and was known to engage in a high-risk lifestyle.

She was reported missing in November of that year.
