SASKATOON – A business man from Edmonton is interested in buying the Saskatoon Blades

The idea of the Saskatoon Blades being sold to another ownership group is becoming more realistic by the day.

The Brodsky family has owned the Blades since 1976, but majority owner Jack Brodsky is in talks with a few interested parties about selling the franchise.

One of the serious contenders is Mike Priestner, owner and CEO of Go Auto, a company comprised of over 25 car dealerships.

“I’ve talked to Jack many times,” said Priestner Thursday evening.

“Lots of people I think have talked to Jack. I’m hoping to buy the Saskatoon Blades, but we’re not quite there yet.”

Priestner lives in Edmonton, so the fact that he doesn’t reside in Saskatoon might put Blades fans on edge about a potential relocation of the franchise.

But if Priestner becomes the new team owner, he doesn’t have any plans on moving the Blades anywhere.

“Not in a million years, the only reason I ever considered buying the team is because it’s in Saskatoon.” Priestner went on to say.

“I think it’s the best market in the Western Hockey League.”
