Suspicious fire destroys warehouse in Kingston, N.S.

HALIFAX – Officials in the Annapolis Valley are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a warehouse Monday night.

The fire was reported at 11 p.m. Monday and raged into Tuesday morning in Kingston, N.S.. Fifteen fire departments from around the Valley responded to the blaze, said Chief Watson Armstong of Kingston District Fire Department.

The warehouse is a complete loss, but crews managed to save nearby buildings, including the Royal Canadian Legion. When the warehouse collapsed, the metal roof fell on burning, wooden debris. On Tuesday morning, an excavator was on the scene looking for hot spots under the roof.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and the case has been handed over to RCMP and the fire marshall, said Armstrong.

No injuries have been reported in the fire.
