Suspect in custody after emergency alert issued in Millhaven, Ont.

OPP say they have a suspect in custody following a serious incident in Millhaven, Ont., Thursday evening.

Provincial police issued an emergency alert for an armed and dangerous man in the area around 7:45 p.m.

OPP said a “major incident” had closed roads in the area of Highway 33 and County Road 4.

Police say the incident stemmed from a “family dispute.”

OPP were asking people in the region to shelter in place with their doors locked. Police say the wanted man was believed to be on foot before he was caught around 8 p.m.

The nearby Amherst Island ferry was put on hold during the incident.

Police say there is no further risk to public safety.
